Project #2 - Cupboards and Drawers
FamilyHost_Cheryl - January 11, 2009
We have a request to get those pots and pans under control and so we're tackling it as this week's project. For five days this week (less if you need to) clean out one cupboard and one drawer per day. A good wiping down and getting rid of what you don't use in them might just make us want to spend more time in the kitchen. Okay, so maybe we won't want to spend more time in the kitchen, but we will enjoy the sparkling results of our work. As always, share your tips with us. This week, tips on how to store the pots and pans, and all those plastics, will be especially helpful.

Ok the drawer took no time so I'm starting on my cabinets/cupboards now. I'll work on the rest of the drawers tomorrow. I'm on a roll now, LOL!

As for the plastic containers and tops, I finally found a solution that works for me. I stopped putting them on the highest shelf since I am very short and don't like the hassle of the stool. At that point I was just throwing them up in there. I put them on the middle shelf and that way I can reach them fine. I took a plastic organizing container from the dollar store about the size of a shoe box and put all the lids in that. I stacked the containers in small stacks that i can pull out with out them falling on me. Now when I need to use them I can pull out my shoe box of lids and everything stays nice and neat.

Great idea!! I use the plastic lid holders that you screw to the cabinet door. Now I don't have to dig for any lids, they are right in front.

Where did you get your holders? I've been putting off cleaning out my cabinet with all of my plastic containers. I just couldn't figure out how to organize all of those darn lids. What an ingenious idea!

I can't do your projects yet....but it sure is fun laying here in bed and reading about them!!! Keep up the good work, ladies!! You are doing something I won't be able to do for a long, LONG time!!! But I must admit, the drawers in my whole house are the ONLY things I truly have organized! Well, and the kitchen cabinets....It hasn't been long since I did all that...and it really is less stressful, knowing where the socks are, or the spatula! If I had enough drawers and cabinets the rest of my house would be so clear people would think I was a minimalist!!

Plastic Lid Help! Tupperware Use to sell a lid organizer! However, Do you have a shelf or pantry door? Take a plastic shoe box/basket and store the lids by size in the box. When you need a lid, pull out the box.
I sometimes use an extra Tupperware container to hold lids! Let me take a picture of the lid organizer that I have mounted on the cabinet door. I'm sure, someone can find something similar online somewhere!
I'll post the pic in another post!

Here is a pic of the Lid organizer! I don't know if they're still available, haven't seen a T-ware catalog in years! However, you may be able to improvise one or get a handy husband to build one!
