How do you clean your house?
FamilyHost_Cheryl - December 28, 2008
Do you clean your house all in a day or do you do a different room each day of the week? Do you use a routine or do you see what fits into your schedule each week? I'm curious as I think it's time to change things up a bit around here. I want to move from doing laundry twice weekly fro hours on end to a couple of loads daily and change to cleaning the house one day a week instead of some every day as it never all looks clean at the same time and then I can just do a quick "maintenance" on the main rooms each day.

I am so very much the same! I have always been a night owl and it is so much easier at night with no distractions and you can actually sit for abit whe nyou are done and relax in your clean home and no one will mess it up in the next minute! My husband is the complete opposite and tells me I should get it done in the daytime. But I have tried that, but as soon as I clean one room, the kids are dragging more toys into another and all the distractions drive me crazy. But I stay up way to late and get up very early, so it's very hard that way. I am also very distracted too .I will start somwthing in a room, find something to bring into another and then I am cleaning up in there. So funny that we are so much a like in that aspect! have a great day!

AMEN! I'm so happy I'm not alone, I always thought I was weird and couldn't stay on task!!

Chelle, I love the laundry basket trick, and Jedi master trick. I'll use that one with AJ, he's my Star Wars FREAK. If I tell him were doing Padawan training, he'll love it. LOL

Jaiwood, tell your husband that night owls do better cleaning at night! My husband has embraced it. During my 2nd pregnancy, I had horrible 'morning sickness - 8am until 8pm!! I would clean ALL night long. Every drawer and cabinet in the kitchen was reorganized. I'd leave everything open so the next morning he could see what I did all night long!

This evening I cleaned the living room top to bottom and put out some Valentine decorations!! All the village stuff is in the garage to go in the attic. OI, that is another project. LOL

OK, ya'll have to warn me 3 days prior to visiting!! Have you heard of OCD?? I pick up all the time, and laundry is never ending. I agree, the kitchen is constant. But in W TX, the wind blows A LOT, so I gave up on dusting yrs ago. I can dust, and 5 mins later you can't tell I did! I get the kids to help me quite a bit. Even when they are as young as 6 or 7 they can vacum. Sure they can't edge, do a super job, but they can get it across the carpet! Frequently on a Sat. morn, I'll tell them we're taking 1 hr to do a family cleaning, then we have family play time. Then they don't gripe! My big problem is that I'm a night owl. I do my best cleaning at night when everyone is asleep! I hate having to conform to standard living and do all the stuff during the day. The other trouble I have is staying focused in 1 room, especially when deep cleaning, I see something that belongs in another room, so I take it there, and get started on something in that room! Then onto anoher room! Anyone else like that??

OMG, are you sure we are not related! I end up having projects started in every room and not one room finished! LOL, I have started to have my youngest son tell me when I can leave the room. Everything that goes somewhere else I put in a laundry basket and then we remove the basket. It helps me stay more focused and my general keeps me in order. He likes to be Obi Wan and I'm his padawan. He gets to tell me what to do and then we switch roles in the next room. It makes the JOB fun and he laughs the whole time.

I'm with you...Everyday I clean..Constantly...I don't mind though. I hate mess, it makes my evenings with the family unenjoyable. I try to limit laundry to 2 times a week, usually Wed and Sunday.... but due to everyone being home for the holidays there has been a LOT more laundry. I clean the bathrooms (scrubbing and deep cleaning) on Thursday and do a massive housecleaning on Friday to start the weekend off right. Mondays (or Tuesdays) I bake breads for the week so I limit cleaning on that day.

I hear you about not being able to enjoy family time if things are a mess. We do the Happy Dance on days there are no chores being done!

I clean daily. Dishes usually twice a day. Laundry twice a week...unless it's summer then its almost every other day....more dirt ya know? Deep cleaning is usually once a week. Supercleaning?, well, that usually is one room at a time and every other day. I try to keep one weekend day as chore free as possible. Have to have a family day!

LOL I dont mind. I think I may be a germaphobe on some level....besides, i have to do something to keep busy. Seriously though, with my hubby working outside, even now, in the BAD weather, keeping the germs away keeps the doctor away :)

I agree with you there...I think I should have invested in Lysol stock lol
