i need some help if anybody out there cares to help me look up some of my relatives? most came from scotland, but some from ireland, england and don't know if there's a connection of france or germany a bit further back. names such as kibbey, mcknight, lyman, webster, catanach, wilkie, loveland.
Keep Digging! Tow weeks ago, I discovered that my great grandfather's nephew was not only a Monsignor, but was also a key player in the civil rights movement. I found a newspaper picture of him speaking after martin luther kings death. Brave man, since he was white.
am hoping that somebody out there can help me trace my mother's father's family from scotland, i know that her parents came here from glasgow, scotland in the 1920s and lived in springfield, mass., but don't know anything about her father who was a webster, as well as my father's side.
Have you tried Ancestry.com? I've found it to be an interesting starting point. It also gives some good suggestions on how to begin your genealogy hunt.
This is a great topic. I'm devoted to doing genealogy, although it isn't always an easy undertaking. I traced my family through various methods (library, cemetary, census, family members, etc.) I use tribalpages.com to input all the information - there is a fee associated with it.
i've manged to dig up some via records down at ellis island.org and found when they came here from scotland, but again i have other people who've helped me, but am at a dead end as my grandfather died from being gassed in ww1 as he had to return to england to fight in the war for their side.
