Grandmas!

What kind of grandmothers do your children have? Are they very involved? Constantly offering advice? Or hands-off and letting you feel your way through this?

This is a picture of my grandmother meeting her great-grandchild for the first time. I was so happy she could meet him.

My mother is very willing to help however she can. She works part-time and watches him so I can work part-time or just get a little me time. I feel like she wants to offer advice more often but she seems to understand that some things I just have to figure out on my own. If I ask for help or advice, she's always there. He has an awesome Grandma!

My son is 11 months, and so far my mom is a great grandmother (or mom-mom as we call her in our household). My mom like to know what's going on and is very supportive. She's not one to offer advice and knows we'll figure it out. She comes to visit every couple of months -- if she waits too long, she starts going through withdrawal (seriously!).

My mother in-law is great, she doesn't offer advice unless it is solicited. She respects our wishes and doesn't go beyond them - I think she's a wonderful grandma.

My mother on the other hand, has seen my daughter maybe 8 times since she was born, 7 of them required visits for holiday events. She has only initiated a visit to her granddaughter 1 time. She constantly questions our decisions and makes dumb coments like - you didn't grow up with a car seat and you made it......she stinks.
