I have been to Disney 4 times, 2times growing up and 2 times with my family. We are going back in Oct '08. I have stayed in Deluxe, Moderate, and Value Resorts, and to be honest your not in your room very much(at least we aren't) so to me the extra $ you spend for deluxe is not really worth it. We are staying at the Port Orleans French Quarter this time and the only reason that we stay @ the moderate resorts is that my husband likes to sit in the hot tubs after a day in the parks and the value resorts don't have them. The pools @ the moderate resorts are nicer and have themed slides that the kids enjoy, but we also had great time and service @the value resort. The biggest perk to staying at the moderate resorts are that the buses aren't as crowded as the value resort buses are.

So do you find the boats from there to Downtown Disney to be pretty regular, and worth taking, or is it just easier to go by bus?

FYI, did you know that Pleasure Island clubs will be closed down when you get there?

This is our first time staying @ port orleans FQ, I did see that you can take the boats or rent one to take to downtown disney which we do plan on doing. I think even if its longer the kids would have more fun. I just got mail from disney saying that Pleasure Island club will be closed, but that won't be an issue since my husband is doing an ironman distance race that weekend and he will be going to bed early. The kids and I will stay in the parks till they close.

Well have fun. The boats are a nice way to get to DD with a more scenic and fun ride than just another bus.

You must have stayed @POFQ before, do you have any other tips for this resort? We have stayed at All Star Movies, Coronado Springs, The Contemporary, and the Polyneisian so if anyone wants more info on those I can give some insight. Thanks for the advice!

I worked for WDW as a Reservations Sales Agent in the WDWCP and still go at least 3 times a year to visit family. Let me know if you have any specific questions pertaining to the resorts and I'll be happy to try to help : )

We have stayed at most of the resorts at WDW, but I always say Disney's Wilderness Lodge is my favorite.

I worked for as a Reservations Sales Agent in the WDW College Program, so if anyone has questions about a specific resort, I'd be happy to try to help!

First off, you can download a PDF of the resort map at http://willcad.org. That can help you orient yourself a bit. I would say building 2-5 are best, as long as you don't get a pool view in 2 or 5 (noise). These four buildings give you a good central position to the boat dock, the bus station, and the amenities of the central building.
