What motivated you to buy your DVC membership?
QuazimodemEsq - September 23, 2008
For us it was the amount of time we vacation at the resort paired with the great incentives they were offering ... and the fact we had just picked up new seasonal passes sealed the deal. We will spend 16 nights at the resort in deluxe accomodations over the next 365 years.

For my family it was value! Also, it forced us to take vacations. My husband is a doctor, getting time away was always for conferences to get continuing medical education. Now we actually go on vacation! Another selling point was that it is inheritable by the kids.

We have been members for 10 years! Our first membership is paid off, So last Feb. when they had big specials we bought another 200 points at Animal Kingdom. I truly believe that this is the best 'time share' on the market. We have looked at others and none compare!

Our 4 kids love Star Wars Weekends, we've been at New Years for our daughter's b-day on Jan.4th. The cool weather was amazing compared to summer heat!

I don;t understand why everyone doesn't join!

My sisters and I are looking into buying in. We've done 4 vacation for 7 people and have spent well over $30,000 in hotel, and tickets and plane alone. So to us it's the obvious choice. I think we're going to wait for the Contemporary to come available in September, but I really liked the looks of the Animal Kingdom Lodge.

The cool thing with membership is you can stay anywhere on Disney. You get better rates on your home base so you can stay longer, but you can stay many places. You don't have to go to Disney either! Have you looked into the details?

We stayed at the Animal Kingdom Lodge last year and loved it. We got upgraded to a two bedroom unit that had just been remodeled (not DVC with full kitchen though). We loved it so much we had to buy at Animal Kingdom. We could go there every year and have a great time even if we didn't go to a park. The level of service you get with Disney is just beyond exceptional. A family member owns with another company and I can tell you it is just not the same experience.

I have to agree about Disney service. We hae been with friends to other places that they consider 4 & 5 star places. When we get there my husband and I think, this does not compare to Disney!

My husband and I bought in on our last trip to Disney World...We love to vacation there, plus WDW is special to us because we got married there! Not to mention it was a great deal/value...we can have it paid off in 10 years, but enjoy it for SO much longer. Plus you have SO many options and places to vacation!! We also like the fact that we can pass it down for other generations to enjoy if and/or when we can't!! Basically, you won't find a better deal

That is so awesome! My cousin got married at WDW, so magical! I don't know of any other timeshare that you can pass down to the kids! You will be surprised how fast the 10 yrs will go. I didn't realize that we had our membership paid off. I was opening mail while waiting for the kids to get out of school when I opened a letter stating that we would be getting our title!! I was in shock!!! Enjoy your vacations, I know we have.

So even while your paying off your membership you can use it? That was a question I had had, but hadn't asked yet.

Casandram, YES!!! The DVC works on points. Each resort room is so many points a night. So we have purchased 200 points per year. We can use our points starting every Aug. thru July. IF we don't go that yr, we BANK our points to save them for the next yr. If we want to go somewhere really nice or take the cruise (someday), we would bank one year, use the current yr, and borrow from the future yr! So we would have 600 points to use. We could stay a really long visit, do a cruise, or stay in a really posh place!!!

In 10 yrs of membership, we have been to Disney 6 times!! This made us take vacations, and I would find continuing medical education conferences at WDW for my husband and kill 2 birds with one stone! Otherwise we would not have gone. We pay a 'small' monthly amount for our membership to own our property. When we go and stay in these fully furnished condos we pay nothing!! Consider that we stayed at the Boardwalk for 1 week several years ago and paid nothing for a 3 bedroom 12 1/2 bath 2 story condo!!! I believe back in '99 its value was $500 or so a night!!

Pretty good value if you ask me.

If you would like to see condo pictures, I have my pictures on snapfish, I would be happy to send you an invite to browse them! I just need an e-mail.
