jessangelique - December 30, 2008
Please tell us at what park did you work at? Disneyland, WDW or Disney Paris, Toyko? What where some of your jobs? Where you a character? If so, did you like it? What was your favorite job? Can you tell us some funny things that might of happened while you where a cast member?I think it would be great to work at WDW. If my husband would move, I'd even pick up trash there for a job!!!!!

MICKEYMOUSKELLINGTON - December 31, 2008
I worked at Disneyland and Disney California Adventures. My favorite position was guest control. We often had very large crowds up to 50,000 some nights and i would help direct traffic during parades, shows, events etc. This position was in many areas of both parks. One of the most embarrasing moments for me was when i worked at the Electrical Parade, That was my favorite parade since i was a kid, and the first night i did parade i did the Electrical Parade, But what was embarrasing was as soon as the floats started coming out, i felt a tear or two running down my face, lol People make fun of me because of that, but I love Disney and the parades and everything that involved in the park to cartoons and so forth. As far as funny things i cant really think of anything, I remember one day i was checking the ride and we had to walk the track to make sure everything was clear because we just had a windy thunderstorm and while we were in there all the lights went out and it was soooo dark.. It was the best place in the world to work at, I loved going there as a guest but working there i had best time of my life, I saw how everything happened, learned so much history of the rides, and the park. I even went to the studios and see the stages and archives, it was soooo creative and wonderful everything in the park and behind the scene. My favorite part however was meeting all the guest and co cast members, Seeing where everyone is visiting from, What they love and so forthwhat there favorite parks I still cant think of any funny situations, The only thing that i can think of at the moment that i thought was funny, was when i was on my lunch i would often eat beside Cinderalla and Peter Pan or other characters. Ohhhh i remember something funny now, ok i dont mean this in a mean way, it was just funny because i could not imagine this happening. I was walking beside Cinderalla on a rainy day and she had to hold the bottom of her dress so it woul dnot get dresses. While walking she slipped. She did not fall, but she slipped in a way that looked like she was dancing to Michael Jackson.....

Thanks for replying. I bet it would be amazing to work for disney. I've never been to Disneyland. We lived in CA for 8 years but never made it to the park. My husband doesn't like crowds, but I do a lot of stuff without him. I think he only went with me to San Francisco 3 times in the 8 years. I went just about every other month. I've been to WDW 5 times though. I have a funny thing that happened on one of my visits. We were staying at the Fort Wilderness Campground and we were on the boat going to Magic Kingdom. This little boy was telling us that if you didn't vomit after a ride, then to him it wasn't a good ride!!!! LOL I on the other hand, do not feel that way!!

I love hearing from people who have worked for Disney and loved it. I realize for some people it's just a job but, the cast members who love being there make Disney truly magical. It sound to me like you were one of the good ones!

Oooh, yay! I noticed there were no groups for (former) cast members, which was a bummer... glad to meet another former cast member here!

I worked in Entertainment, which was Global (in all the parks). It was an absolute BLAST. I loved it, even on the super hot days. I was injured while working and put on light duty in DAK (Animal Kingdom), and got to do stuff like FastPass for Dinosaur and Kilimanjaro Safaris, as well as do some Operations for Dinosaur.

I also got to spend some time working at Candy Cauldron at DTD (the kitchen window was so much fun- yummy candy apples!) and I was working the last night that the Disney Pleasure Island stores (DTV, Villains in Vogue, etc) were open. I loved working nights- and PI was a really fun atmosphere in which to work.

I will say, though, that I HATED working Entertainment in the summer when I was pregnant! Hot hot days, getting sick all the time, ughhhh... I had really supportive managers though, which made things easier. A few in particular went out of their way to make sure that I was comfortable when I was working, which I REALLY appreciate.

I took Pirate to Disney for his 2nd birthday and we visited some of my old managers, who were so surprised to see us. It was a lot of fun. :)

Is your child's proper name Pirate? That rocks! I wish I had been that brave with my daughters name. She is Ariel...Definitely Disney...but not very daring. I love meeting cast members. Working for Disney was one of my childhood dreams...unfortunately dashed to pieces by my nay-saying parents back in High School. Maybe one day when I retire I will sell souvenirs at a kiosk.
