Inauguration
FamilyHost_Meredith - November 17, 2008
Inauguration day is Tuesday, January 20th. Is anyone planning to stretch it to a four-day weekend and visit for the Inaugural festivities?

Do you have questions on how to get here or where to stay?

I won't be attending anything happening that weekend but the local tv stations are doing a lot of stories on DC locals renting around rooms and their homes to people coming from out of town. They figure there could be more than a million people in town for it.

Though I've been to DC (okay, so it was for an 8th grade field trip! lol!!) I have no intentions of going even if I could afford to. I'll be at home, warm and cozy watching it on tv, while everyone is outside there, in the cold and snowy weather. I just wonder if he'll be sworn in using the Holy Bible or will it be his Blackberry?

Living in Oklahoma, I'll be watching on TV, although it is rather historical. My hope is that we look back on this day as a pivotal day in the improvement and health of our country. Time will tell.

I imagine the combination of huge crowds and security is going to make it a very long and chaotic day. But I bet for the people that are excited for this inauguration, it will just add to the feeling of festivity.

LOL...OK, I get a very distinct feeling that you are not numbered among those who are excited. I'm not either, but I'm hoping to be surprised pleasantly by this administration.

I am planning on paying attention this time around. I've been reading biographies of various Presidents, and I'm curious to see how they've designed his inauguration, and what changes they'll make.

Nothing wrong with having a get together instead. We will do the same at my house with family and friends :)

I'll listen to the inaugural address. But the rest...well, I think I'm about partied and celebrated out, so I'll be doing a quiet night at home watching the tube.
