First Time Father Advice
FamilyHost_Tom - August 07, 2009
Dads, here's your chance to help someone else benefit from the wisdom you've gained as a father. What advice would you give to a first time father? What things would you suggest that he avoid or not do, and what things do you think he definitely needs to think about? We're talking about the advice we'd give to a first time father.

When changing your son's diapers, have a new diaper ready to put over his diaper area the at the exact moment you remove the old diaper.

Children can remove romance from the relationship with your spouse. They wear you out, are always there and need to be held, changed, sung to, played with, cleaned up after. Being a parent requires all of your energy and most all of your time. But the reason you have your child is because of your spouse. Don't let romance go by the wayside. write a card, make dinners or pick it up on the way home, and remember to make her feel special for giving you such a great gift as a child. It will pay dividends!

My advice to a brand new father or a man desiring to become a father is:

To never look at your children as chores or simply as responsibilities. Even though it is our responsibility to raise them properly, don't just see them as that or even as dependents. Look at them for what they really are and that's as gifts. Take pride and be excited that you were given this gift of being a father; so many men out in this world do not have this option of becoming fathers. And look at each day as a different layer of wrapping paper. As each day unfolds, just imagine what piece of the gift will you receive that day. Our children will do the darndest things, on occasions will do things that will frustrate you, but just remember you were there once yourself; and that as a child all you are doing is learning from the diffrent experiences that life is handing you. Simply put; cherish the gift that is your child! You were given that gift for a reason.
