Explaining Tragedy to our Children
FamilyHost_Tom - November 06, 2009
Whether a world, local or family event, tragedies are part of life. Events can be bewildering to our children. Our natural tendency is to shield them from these events, but at times, it is appropriate to attempt to help them understand what has happened. You can read about this at http://life.familyeducation.com/emotional-development/anxiety/40635.html Tell us how you explain such things to your children.

When my mom was a child care provider, she had the book "The Tenth Good Thing About Barney" by Judith Viorst. It explained death to children in a way that was sensitive and compassionate.
