I think Obama's running amuck on some kind of ego trip to be honest with you. I reallly could care less if he talks to the school kids just as long as it's on topic and nothing about politics or policies. Besides, most parents tell their kids how important school is and to do their best and blah, blah, blah-so I really don't see what the purpose is.....
Our school district started classes about a week & a half ago and now everyone's in the swing of things, so our district said NO they won't be showing the speech since it'll disrupt the flow of things.
And yes, I've heard the arguments about Bush and who, Regan? talk to the school kids in the past...but you know, I just don't know what else to say about all this. If it's not one thing it's another! It's exhausting, no? LOL!

OMG! I can't belive this. Our school district had put out a statement two days ago saying they wouldn't be showing the speech. Now, all of the sudden I get a robocall from the district saying there reversing their decision (over a holiday weekend, how convienent). So now, they will be showing it live to the High School kids, can't recall about the middle school, but the elementary students it's optional & can do other activities w/a parents note. All because it's a "historic event." Why does it always have to be a historic event? please. Oh well, I doubt in 10years any of my kids will even remember it anyhow! lol!!!

The problem is the media has blown so many things out of proportion. This is something that past presidents have done yet because our current president is doing the same thing it's all over the news. Many people are against it because they just don't like our president whether they want to admit it or not. Ketchup you're so right I doubt if any of the children will remember this speech by the end of the school year. Let's move on already!
