How much time do you spend clipping and organizing coupons? If you had to guess, how much money do you save each month?

I have my standbys for coupons, so I don't spend a lot of time. I'll save up the coupons that come during the week and then browse through them with my Sunday coffee.

I would imagine I save at least $40 a month by using coupons and choosing the correct stores with their special days of doubling/tripling coupons.

Sundays are my day. My oldest daughter is usually up before the rooster (no we don't have a rooster..LOL) and she walks to the top of the driveway to get the paper. So before I have to get ready for church, it's me, my cup of coffee and the paper. I usually skim through everything then come back later in the afternoon and cut them out.

I'm sure I save about $100 in coupons each month when comparing them to sales going on.

It's a must do in times like these. Plus, I have fun doing it. I've had people ask me t the store how I do it because they've seen me save lots of money.

I'm loving this group! Thanks!

Happy Couponing.

AnnabelleMcB and luvbermuda, that's excellent!

If you divide the amount of time spent into the money saved, that's a pretty good hourly wage. I tell my husband that clipping coupons is part of my job as homemaker. When I tell him how much per hour I give back to the budget by doing this, he's thoroughly impressed. Then when I tell him that I'd have to earn another 25% per hour in the working world to clear that amount, he usually leaves the room, muttering something under his breath about my being obsessed with math. LOL

LOL - I am kind of crazy about it, but he still grins from ear to ear when I tell him it's time to start booking that WDW vacation he wants to take. ;-)

I'm not a coupon person, but I've considered it. However, whenever I start looking at the coupons, I can't find any for items that I would like to buy. You know, like a coupon for Prime Rib or something like that. :) Seriously, besides the Sunday paper, where are the best places to find coupons that are somewhat brand name products?

Oh there are loads of coupons in magazines. Cooking club magazines, Good Housekeeping,Better Homes and Gardens. Those kind of magazines. The coupons that come in the mail and joining their websites (Bettycrocker.com) for instance. Hope this helps

Good answers, ferrari-johnson! Thank you!

Also, in Jurassic Era, when I didn't have a computer, I used to call the toll free phone number on the label of the product I wanted coupons for. I'd tell the customer service people that I absolutely love their product (gush gush) but would add that I was sorry I'd have to start buying the less expensive store brand because I needed to economize. If the next sentence I heard wasn't, "Oh, let's send you some coupons," I'd say to them, "I'd love to have some coupons so I can continue to buy your product." I was never turned down. So, calling the toll free number might be another way of getting coupons.
