Old Electronics
FamilyHost_Pia - 3 weeks ago
Cleaning out the extra bedroom in my house, I came across an old computer, several old cell phones, an old printers, etc! I really did not just want to put it into the trash can. So I went online to find the nearest electronics recycling center. I had to drive 50 miles one way but it sure made me feel better to have all of my electronics there instead of the landfill! What do you do with your old electronics?

Since many of our old electronics still work we donate them to the Salvation Army. I know stores like Staples, Office Depot, etc. takes old electronics as well but I believe there is a fee.

I agree with Jennyboots to remember to do a complete wipe of your hard drive.

Our local high school will accept computer donations to give students a chance to work on them. So once we have cleaned all of the personal information off of it, we have been known to donate some of our electronics there.

We also have utilized our local Freecycle list. There are so many handy people out there that may be able to bring an old electronic back to life.

I pass my used stuff on to relatives, since I upgrade rather frequently.

My sons elementary school recycles old cell phones and then in return they get money for them. I have also donated old computers before to Salvation Army and gave an old printer to my sons kindergarten class.

I have an old computer that has been sitting in my guest room for over a year now but don't know how to wipe everything out so I can get rid of it...in the past I had friends or neighbors that would do it for me but they have since moved on. Can you tell me how to clean it out? I would so love to get it off my floor. Thanks!
