Kids Rooms
September 22, 2009
The kids rooms was something that needed to be done about twice a year in my house. I would go through their clothes, toys, video games, etc and out goes anything they are no longer interested in or what no longer fits. We used to have yearly garage sales to let them earn some spending money but now we usually just donate the items. How often do you go through your kids rooms and what do you do with the items they no longer want or need?

I'm curious. Do you make your kids responsible for cleaning their rooms at least once a week? We tried that and had some measure of success, although we relaxed that a bit when they became teens.

Yes! When they were younger we would all be together and clean their rooms but as they got older, they had to do it alone. I do have to say that it worked well for my youngest daughter but my son...lets just say I have to remind him to clean his room!

I have tried and find that the rooms get worse!

I have to go in there once a month and throw stuff out ... the better stuff we donate to the Goodwill, the rest hits the trash!

The kids and myself go through their rooms once every three months. We go through clothes and toys and get rid of anything that is broken, they no longer play with or does not longer fit. If it's still in good shape we usually take it to our church, the rest gets trashed.
