I could watch Gone with the Wind, I don't know how many times. It will take me a week to watch the whole thing! haha

My Favorite classic holiday movie is White Christmas, and I even have a newer one that I love, Love Actually. I do agree with the others on here that say they love Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, I thought I was the only one who loved that movie, SInging in the Rain, and Affair to Remember. Victor Victoria, whats not to love about Julie Andrews? There are too many to list!

Singing in the Rain is my all time favorite classic movie. For the holidays I would have to go with White Christmas. It just isn't Christmas without it.

Only one?

Can't sorry. Here's the list:

The Philadelphia Story
Bringing Up Baby
It Happened One Night
Harvey
Breakfast at Tiffany's
To Kill a Mockingbird
Singing in the Rain
North By Northwest
Mr Smith Goes to Washington
Citizen Kane
Barefoot in the Park
Love With a Proper Stranger
The Thin Man

Oh, and there are many more... the thing with me is, I find myself loving every classic movie to death... but maybe I only pick the good ones to watch. ;-)

I do not consider anything from the 1960's to be classic movies, although there are many that I dearly love and can watch over and over again. (Yes, I do that with favorite movies...) Movies in this category would be movies starrring Doris Day, any Disney movie from the '60's on up, Barefoot in the Park (I saw somebody else listed that,)
and any musical. Nobody can beat the Shirley Jones and Gordon McRae combo.
My all-time favorite movie classic series is the Thin Man series, with Myrna Loy and William Powell. They are all great, but my favorite one is "After the Thin Man," because it also stars Jimmy Stewart, one of my all-time favorite actors. (Another favorite movie of mine that he stars in is "Bell, Book, and Candle," with Kim Novak.) (And, speaking of Kim Novak, "The Eddy Duchin Story" is a winner. It has beautiful piano music.) I can't stop without mentioning a movie that everybody should be required to watch at least once, along with reading the book it is based on: To Kill a Mockingbird.
And then there are the Chirstmas classics -- Holiday Inn, White Christmas, and Christmas in Connecticut.
One last thing, anything with Cary Grant -- my original heart throb -- yes, I know, I know.....

I'm an older mom and I can remember when classic romance movies added kissing but in real old Hollywood the stars would not really kiss because of the disease dangers. They used invisible cellophane type stuff or would only turn their face to give an illusion of a kiss. Now, there does not seem to be any real love stories like Casablanca, GWTW, etc. It all goes too fast into relationships instead of marriage.... Wish it wasn't so...

One of my favorites is "Pillow Talk" starring Doris Day and Rock Hudson. It's just so quirky and, ultimately, romantic.

Older mom or not, there's no doubt that many of todays so-called romance movies rely less on creative brilliance and more on in-your-face graphic titilation. I should add that I'm younger, male and definitely not a prude but facts are facts. Consider why Hitchcock and Capra were so good that they remain relevant even now. Often, less is more!
