Choose to Snooze
FamilyHost_Tom - August 17, 2009
Whether sawing logs in your cabin or cat-napping on a deck chair in the shade, sleeping and napping provide relaxation. If you sleep a lot, do you feel cheated? Do you avoid taking a nap or going to bed at normal hours in an effort to pack a few more fun times in during your cruise? Let's talk about our views on when and how much sleep we need on our cruise.

I slept less on my cruise than I usually do at home. I wanted to make the most of every minute. I also found that since I was so relaxed I did not feel as tired at night, so it worked out okay sleeping less.

I would imagine that most people have the same experience. The key is relaxing and enjoying yourself. Our bodies generally tell us if we need more or less sleep.

I wouldn't mind "sleeping in" during my cruise. I imagine it would be enjoyable. I like the idea of no rush, no schedule, no "have to" go or be anywhere.

Actually, upon reflection, isn't the goal of the cruise to enjoy yourself? And if you enjoy sleeping a lot, then you should sleep a lot. I think it depends upon each person. I'm sure some would hate missing out on an activity, but the cruise ships have activities going almost non-stop. :)

Naps can help keep you from being worn out. When I'm really tired, even if the things I'm involved in are great, I can't enjoy it near as much. Our bodies let us know if we need a few extra minutes (or hours) of sleep.

My husband and I like to enjoy in the festivities but we also like to take a break and relax for a bit, but no naps for us! As for our sleeping habits, we go to bed whenever but I like to be up at a decent hour to take in more festivities!! ;-)

As I've read the various responses, I think that most of us would prefer to be involved in activities and enjoy seeing and doing. It also seems that the older folk, of which I would qualify, enjoy the activities if we get enough rest, including naps.
