How much do you believe it?

There is so much controversy and arguing over whether shots should be given, whether parents have the right not to vaccinate and potentially expose others to them getting sick. With so many things nearly wiped out is it as bad as the media makes it out to be.

On one hand you have parents who are adamant that their children were adversely effect by vaccines and others who say those parents have no right to endanger their children by not vaccinating.

Lets toss this around and see what everyone thinks?

All of their shots are current. I don't agree with the chicken pox shot, but if they don't have it they can't go to school. I don't get the flu shot. Every time I have ever gotten that shot I've been sick. If I skip it, I don't get sick (coincidence?). Last year all the kids in my extended family had the flu shot (except mine) and the only 4 that weren't sick were mine. There was a lot of hubub on the news saying the strain of flu was a new kind and they weren't prepared for it. Well, how do you predict which one is coming? Do they rotate or something? DUH....as a matter of fact the only people that didn't get sick were those of us that didn't get the shot. My hubby never missed a day of work, my teenagers never missed school and the little ones were happy all winter. So, I guess you have to take a risk either way, but, you'll never convince me that the flu shot is necessary.

We have never gotten the flu shot and don't plan on it. Everyone I know who has ended up sick while the rest of us never got it. Just seems like you get the shot so you can get the flu.

We fully vaccinated our oldest and partially vaccinated our youngest. Our oldest is autistic and there are 7 years between the two of them. I can't say one way or another that the vaccinations caused or triggered it, but I can say I am a more informed parent since my first and have made sure that knowing what I know not to blindly listen to a doctor or trust someone fully with the life of my child without educating myself first.

Too many parents think the white coats and the title Dr. in front of the name that is means they know all, but they are still human and they make mistakes. I am my children's voice until they can talk and decide for themselves. And I need to make sure I make an educated choice.

I did vaccinate my kids and they had no adverse effects. My sister delayed some of her kids' shots until they were closer to entering school. I do know that Whopping Cough seems to be going through the schools here the last few years and with my kids' asthma I sure want my kids far away from that coughing even though they are vaccinated. Where I live parents can take a religious exemption to the vaccinations.
