My child's school has their Scholastic Book Fair going on and the other day when I helped set it up, I spied a book: The Mommy Daughter Book Club. Me and a friend are starting one of these for our girls and a few of their friends. I thought it might be an interesting read. It's fiction. I like the book, it is written for perhaps middle-school or upper elementary school kids and is about 4 hs girls who are all different and don't all run in the same group of friends but end up having aLOT more in common than they bargained for. It will be interesting how the author ties the ending up.

Check it out at your kid's fall book fair!

I love the book fair at school, especially the one in the spring. In the spring all the books are buy one get one free. It's nice that there are books for adults as well as kids at the book fair we have. Is it that way at yours?

Hi,
I am new to this group. I love reading and right now I'm reading "Dumbfounded" A memoir by Matt Rothchild. It tells about his growing up with his grandparents as his father deserted him and his mother ran off to Europe. His grandparents are so funny and it is really fun reading.

Hello! I'm excited about a Book Club online. I'm currently reading "Sense and Sensibility" by Jane Austen. I rented a movie entitled, "The Jane Austen Book Club" and the story line revolved around a core group of 4 women who decide to create a JA book club and invite two random people. Each person hosts one of JA's novels. It got me thinking that I needed to re-read them all so I have started with "Sense & Sensibility."

I've been reading Primeval: Shadow of a Jaguar. Not my usual type of book. I prefer Vampire romance, and mystery. But its quite interesting so far. I got it from a site called Ijustfinished.com. They send you a book according to your preferences and when you finished you review their book on their website and when you done, they'll send you another one. So far so good.

I just started Stray by Rachel Vincent. I was curious because it is about werecats. You hear a lot about other Shape-Shifters, like werewolves, but I hadn't read any about werecats, so I thought I'd try this one. Especially since I like cats...

So far what I've read is ok. There is suspense and an action scene right at the beginning so you get into that right off the bat.

I am near the end of The Awakening by LA Banks, the second in her series of Vampire Huntress books. It is pretty good, except it has a good bit of explaining going on right now. It's almost like this is the "learning" part of the series. But it's about to pick up with fights scenes so we'll see...

I am reading The Last Secret by Mary McGarry Morris. She actually has won a few awards and one of her books was on the Oprah's Book Club list. This one is about a woman who is struggling with family issues and a seedy man from her past. It is good, and easy to read.

I am also reading Still Life With Crows by Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child. I just started it, and am only about ten pages in, but it is already intriguing me. It is about a very similar community to mine. It takes place in southwest Kansas, and I live in southeast Colorado, so I am interested to see what goes on. My husband read it, and he said that he will never go into a cornfield in his life again after reading this book.
