I love J.D. Robb's In Death series! It's futuristic, crime solving, sexy, it's got it all. J.D. Robb is Nora Roberts psudy. (don't know how to spell it) and it is completely different from any of her books at N.R.

Christopher Pike will always be my favorite. I like so many others, but he captures me every time with his work. I've been reading him since I was a teenager, over twenty years, and I still enjoy the young adult stuff even now. He writes the kind of sci-fi/paranormal that makes you think seriously about things and the way the world is now. A lot of it makes you ask "what if?"
I do like one I discovered in the last few months, Brandon Massey. His is horror or paranormal or suspense, and he does really good work. He has his readers sucked in from page one.

my all time favorite author is betty neels who wrote for harlequin romance and have all or just about all of her books. i also have tons of other favorite authors such as kathryn jensen, emma goldrick, sharon kendrick, alexandra sellers, valerie parv, sandra marton, leeann banks and others for contemporary. then for regency it's irene saunders, sandra heath, cindy holbrook, joy reed, wilma counts, caroline courtney, as well as many others, then for historical, thomasina ring, catherine coulter, lori copeland, joan wolf and several others. you can see i just can't have a few favorites, there's so many who are sooooooo great! janet

Like the others, it would be impossible to name one fave. But some I like are Frank Peretti, James Patterson, Jefferson Bass (he is a local here at Univ. of Tenn's Body Farm) - Kaycee, he is the actual source for most of Patricia Cornwell's books. His real name is Bill Bass. Anyway, I also like Tim Lahaye's Left Behind series. But my all time faves are, I guess, JRR Tolkein. and C.S. Lewis.

ONE FAVORITE AUTHOR? Hahahaha Seriously I have so many - just like all of you - so here are just a few: J.K. Rowling (who I started out wanting to 'hate' but LOVED immediately); Jane Austen; Robin Jones Gunn; Janet Evanovich (because those stinking books have one line in each that absolutely makes me burst out laughing for minutes on end and that is worth reading the whole book to find it....and usually it involves Grandma Mazur); Brad Thor (007 meets Post-9/11 terrorist types); Willam Martin (another historical novelist who weaves history into solving a mystery -- and it is well-researched!). That's enough for now. I read tons of chick-lit for diversion (like a cheap movie) and we read some really serious stuff at our book club (Snow Flower & the Secret Fan; City of Light; Evidence of Things Unseen; Into the Wild). Love this group!

If you like historical woven into crime solving, try Caleb Carr. I have read The Alienist, and Angel of Darkness(?) not absolutely sure of that title. The were, by far, the best I have ever read of that type.

I like his books too Annabelle....have you read any David McCullough? He has a terrific book about G. Washington and his John Adams book was made into an HBO series which was phenomenal!

Joanne Fluke is a great light mystery author. The books also have the yummiest recipes in them. I also enjoy Debbie Macomber for some feel good women's reading. Nancy Atherton's "Aunt Dimity" series is a fun mystery series I enjoy too.
