Anita Blake Series - Yay/Nay?
AnnabelleMcB - February 16, 2009
At a party this weekend, a friend mentioned he was reading the Anita Blake series. He thought it was an entertaining read.

Has anyone read any of this series? I'm looking for some new books to pile on the nightstand and was curious to hear folks' thoughts.

I haven't heard of the Anita Blake series. What kind of books do you like to read? I really like mysteries, particularly forensic mysteries and culinary mysteries.

The Anita Blake series by Laurel K Hamilton. I read the entire series of this one. I enjoyed it but I have to give warning. It is extremely sexually explicit at times (OK, in truth some of the books are almost entirely that way). But if you enjoy vampire/werewolf books with some good battles and who dunits than you'd like it. One thing I noticed, if you read the entire series in order, book 1 to about 5 (trying to remember that far back) are not graphic in that way (in fact they are pretty tame). But I believe it's book 6 when the..... ahem..... fun begins - LOL
If you do read it and ejoy Laurel K Hamilton she also has the Meredith Gentry series which is about fairies and such. Another one I liked.
Sorry to go on for so long :)

I've read her entire series and i don't really have any complaints about it. its fast paced and you get to know the characters in the books since most of them are in the entire series. There is a lot of sexual situations in the books but i wouldn't hold that against the books..

If you like vampire and supernatural type books I would also recommend the Sookie Stackhouse series. It is what the series "Trublood" on tv is based on. Of course the books are a lot better.
I have read Anita Blake as well and I like the first few books, but then it just seems to be the same ol', same ol'.
I also like the Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich. Funny and very entertaining. My daughter got me interested in this series and I actually laugh out loud when I read it.
