Treasure-Hunts

Have you ever hosted a treasure hunt at a birthday party? I am trying to find ideas other than the pirate theme for a treasure hunt. The birthday will be in January, so it will be kinda cool but I do want it to be an outdoor hunt. Any ideas?

I've never hosted one, but I've gone to a few of them as a teen, and they're a whole bunch of fun! I think the most fun scav hunt we went on was the alphabet hunt. We had to find items from A-Z. Those were all the instructions we got. It took us a couple of hours, but it was a lot of fun. My older sister, two friends and I were on the same team. We grabbed my mom's Polaroid camera and took pictures of the items that were not practical to bring back to the party house (like the zebra at the local zoo).

Oh my, A-Z seem like would take forever lol. Did you get the items you were supposed to find or did any item do, as long as it started with the required letter?

I thought if we had snow I could make it a snow expedition hunt. Sure would be fun to have the kids digging in the snow for the treasure.

Sure! Check out Masters of the Hunt. They have a lot of different hunts. All different styles like location to location, puzzle based, traditional scavenger hunts, etc. They are broken up by age group and they can all be customized for location, time frame, etc. http://www.mastersofthehunt.com/buy-a-scavenger-hunt.php
