Girls Spa Day/Dress UP B-Day Party
Carriefunk - August 29, 2008
When my daughter was turning 7 (Her B-day is Jan. 4) we did a Spa B-day party at the house.

I hand made using scrapbooking tools and paper compacts - on the inside was a 'mirror', and down below was sparkly shimmery paper cut in a circle to be blush. I then used Vellum to type the party info and cut it in circles to cover the blush. Little stickers for the applicator and words saying compact on the front, blush on the inside completed the compact!

We told the girls to dress up, I told the Moms we were doing Hair, Manicures, Pedicures, and Makeup! Note I rounded up 6 friends to run the Spa!

I went to the dollar store and bought lots of hair goodies, wild nail colors, nail decals, went to a nail salon and bought the 'shoes' for the pedicures, and rounded up lots of old makeup, hair spray, and perfume. I also bought feather boas and jewelry!

When the girls came in we started them at a station, I set up tables with chairs and they rotated thru like a salon. The pedicures were done in the room with tile floor, and we used plastic storage buckets for thier little feet and beach towels!

I had bought wall decorations shaped like perfume atomizers and high healed shoes. I bought a red plastic table cloth and put it on the floor to make a red carpet and after all the girls were glitzed, we had a fashion show!

We served punch and petit fours. I had a cake for them to sing happy b-day, but they had not seen petit fours before!

I took pictures of each girl with my daughter during the fashion show, I had bought paper mache frames and I glued feather boa around the frame. I put a picture in each frame and gave it to the Moms with the thank you notes.

Everyone had a great time, and the Spa treatment and boas and jewelry were the 'treat', no need for a goodie bag. I didn't have a digital camera at that time, and I haven't located those negatives to scan in, sorry, no pictures. But this would work well for 5 and up! remember, the more girls you invite, the more moms you need to help so you have more stations and get them all done fairly quickly!

Wow- I bet you won mom of the year award that year! That might be the coolest idea I have heard for a party. My daughter is turning 4- but when she gets a little older I am totally stealing this idea.

Last year when my daughter turned 8, I took her and 2 of her friends to Libby Lu located inside Parisian. They each chose which make over they wanted do, played dress up, got their nails done, minimal face make-up (eye shadow, face glitter, lip gloss), and afterward did the limbo. Then we went to Mc Donalds, they played and opened gifts. It was the easiest birthday ever!!
