Christofer Larkin Escort
groundrat - January 22, 2009
Tuesday morning we had the honor of escorting Chris to the Palo Alto Veterans Administration Hospital.

Chris was injured in an IED attack while serving in Iraq. The resulting nerve damage was uncorrectable. Chris was going to the VA to have his leg amputated as its unusable and causing him problems. There were about 20 or so bikes. I never did get the count on them. There were PGR and Cross Ministry bikes. We picked up CJ at his home. We met Mom, sis, best friend, and Uncles. CJ was really impressed. His Mom was more emotional than CJ. We started up with two bikes in front and everyone else behind CJ's truck. We took a nice, steady 65-70 MPH ride to the VA Hospital. At the Hospital, we pulled up to the front door, hopped off our bikes and then set up our flag line. The Cross Ministries riders said a prayer for CJ, then CJ wheeled himself thru our flag line and into the hospital. It was a nice day, a nice ride, and a successful mission.

CJ has had his operation and has come thru it in high spirit. His uncle said he is a motivated young soldier who is looking forward to getting up and around on his artificial leg. CJ wanted to tell us all how much he appreciated our being there this morning. So again, guys, job well done. Rick did say that if everything goes as planned, Saturday is the day CJ is supposed to go home. But his injury is in the nerves and only time will tell how the skin will react to the operation. It may take longer than anticipated.

We will say little prayer for CJ that he heals fast and is able to get up and around very soon! Sounds like he has a great spirit even though he has been through so much and sacrificed more than we could imagine for all of us. Thank You CJ for helping to keep us all here at home out of harms way.
