I used to do the handprint characters with my children when they were young. It's a great idea for almost any holiday!

Hey Jen,
Do your kids like to paint? I was sharing this idea with kayceecat in another area yesterday.

You'll need pinecones and glitter paint and paper plates.

Put paint on a plate. Roll the cone in the paint so the tips get covered. Stand up on end to dry on paper towels, plates, wax paper, newspaper.

Then you can make any number of things. I have taken baskets I have tons put ribbon around the edge(hot glue) and then a strand of 25 mini lights. Mix the lights around the pinecones and Voila! You could use battery powered lights too. I just alway put my basket on a table or counter near a plug! For 4th of July I used a red Basket and got a strand of puffy stars to wrap around the handle. The wire they sell to decorate packages and such with that sparkels (you know?) works well. You can also put in picks of greenary or whatever depending on what holiday you are doing a basket for. I have found toothpick decorations are great for crafting - jewlery, projects, etc! I see if I can find a picture. My main computer is giving me fits, hubbys laptop does not have pics on it!

Jen, You can make a handprint wreath out of foam also. These are really cute. We do these in scrapbooks. You can do that for any holiday, just choose the right color and decorate for the holiday. The hands decorated like Easter Eggs are adorable!

This year I'm gonna get solid red balls and get my children to make thumbprint snowmen on them. My youngest son did it in his class last year and this year I would love to have a keepsake from all of them.

These will be adorable! Have you seen Ed Emberly's book on thumbprint art? He shows how to let your kids make all kinds of creatures using thumbprints and fineline markers.

The Kindergarten teachers took class photo (here take a photo of all your kids) enlarge the print, 5x7 and get and 8x10 mat at the dollar store. Let the kids do finger prints, and 'help' them make the fingerprints into animals, insects, etc. Put in an acrylic frame and send to Grandma and Grandpa!
