Introducing table foods
FamilyHost_Annabelle - July 26, 2009
Some of our 2009 babies are approaching the age where they might be ready to be introduced to table foods. My girls were both around seven months old when they had their first bite of table food, and both reacted very differently. My second daughter was very timid about trying new things and would hold little bits of cheerios in her mouth for ages before swallowing. She would just stare at me in disbelief, as if to say, "I put something in my mouth and you're not taking it away? What's up with that, mom?" However, my first daughter ate with gusto, as if she were born to chew. (She's a chef now - how funny is that?)

Have you introduced your baby to table foods yet? How did it go? What did you serve? Tell us all about it, and if you have photos of that first bite, send them along. :)

We introduced solid foods around six months old. We started off with each of the cereals, then moved to veggies and ended with fruits. We made sure to go a whole week with one of the new foods before introducing another one. Our pediatrician suggested that as a way to keep an eye out for allergic reactions.

That's a good point about waiting a week to make sure there are no allergic reactions. Thanks for sharing that, Helen. :)

My son had his first taste of rice cereal about seven months old. He didn't quite spit it back but he wasn't very impressed.
