My sister-in-law delivered both of her children at home, and I know that created quite a stir in our family. What are your thoughts on the debate about hospitals versus home deliveries? Would you be comfortable with a midwife delivering you at home? If you've had a hospital delivery, would you repeat the process, or would you consider a home delivery next time? Not acceptable?
Oh my gosh never at home... I want to make sure there are doctors around in case something goes wrong. After my second child I went to have a medical procedure and the baby was put in the nursery... she stopped breathing and they had to clear her airway! Not acceptable?
I think mothers who choose to deliver at home are putting their babies at great risk. Although the percentage of deaths in childbirth have gone down, I think that's because hospitals have gotten better at fetal monitoring. Uncontrolled bleeding and stuck babies are a very real problem, and mothers owe it to their children to deliver in an environment where these problems can be addressed. Not acceptable?
