Sweet Sandwich Cake

Ingredients
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 package mini semi-sweet chocolate morsels
Filling/cream
4 tblsp unsalted butter, softened
4 cups confectioners sugar
2 tsp vanilla extract
1/4 tsp almond extract
heavy whipping cream
Directions
Mix together cake mix per instructions on the box, adding in 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract to cake batter. Fold in 1/2 c semi-sweet morsels to finished batter. Grease and flour two 9" round baking pans and divide batter between pans. Bake per box instructions. Cool completely.
Cream 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, one teaspoon vanilla extract and 1/4 teaspoon almond extract. Add in confectioners sugar one cup at a time and mix until well distributed. Beat in whipping cream until it is the consistency of a creamy icing.If not using icing right away, store in air-tight container in fridge.
When cakes are completely cooled, spread half of the cream/filling mixture onto one of the cake layers. Put it in the refrigerator to set for about 5 minutes. After the first layer sets, put top layer on cake and spoon remainder of filling/icing on top. Let set in fridge for 5 minutes to set. Take out cake and place a large heart-shaped cookie cutter in center of top of cake just to give an outline for the choc. chips. Do not push the cookie cutter into the cake. Spoon mini-chips into the cutter shape and gently press down on the chips to adhere them to the cake. Return cake to fridge to set for 15 minutes. Remove cookie cutter carefully to leave heart shape on top and serve. Store cake in an air-tight container in fridge.
