Gerber's Kiddy Cutlery

You might have read in my previous blog , Sit Down Dinner, that the Golfer and I have been attempting to make dinnertime a more formal affair.  If not formal, at least more civilized.  We having been trying to teach them dinner etiquette, like how they should use a napkin instead of their shirt when wiping their faces.  We've come to find out that poor table manners are a hard thing to break, which is why I keep my eyes open for anything that might help.

Mama's latest find, Gerber Graduates Kiddy Cutlery, is another step towards teaching my children how to properly behave at the dinner table.  This three piece utensil set comes with a fork, knife and spoon with "stainless steel tips and easy-grip handles."  They claim to "make it easier for toddlers to transition to adult utensils."  I use them with both of my kids.

So far, the Bald-Headed Monkey has mastered using the spoon and is still practicing stabbing things with the "real" fork.  I haven't let him use the knife yet, although it is very dull like a butter knife.  It's been great for the Cheese Eater.  By having all three utensils, we have been teaching him how to set the table, which is now one of his new chores.  I bought two sets of Kiddy Cutlery, so both kids have their own.

The Kiddy Cutlery is so new, I couldn't find it on the Gerber website, but cost me $3.87 at Wal-Mart.
