Five deer and a week's worth of fowl. If you really want to go traditional, that's what you would need to get started. Those are the only things that anyone knows for sure were served at the very first Thanksgiving in Plymouth in 1961. If your oven isn't big enough and wooden trenchers are out for tableware, you may want to consult one or two of the following links for help with your more contemporary holiday feast.

  • All your favorite foodies in one spot! The Food Network has videos, recipes and shows galore to help you make the most of your Turkey Day.
  • Rustic and delicious, Country Living is one of my favorite resources for great recipes.
  • Bon Appétit - Impeccable, as always, and so very comprehensive--this link may be the only one you'll need to help you pull off the best Thanksgiving ever.
  • No meat? No worry! The Veggie Table has awesome veggie recipes for Thanksgiving. Even if you aren't a vegetarian, there's sure to be a recipe or two (or three!) you'll find appealing.
  • Martha, Martha, Martha! You know this link is "a good thing" for your Thanksgiving feast.
  • Saveur's recipes for a traditional Thanksgiving with a twist.
  • All Recipes ... I don't think more needs to be said!

If you've run out of time or you just don't cook, have your Thanksgiving dinner prepared for you!

  • Boston Market will have your holiday meal ready for you to reheat or pick up hot.
  • Gourmet Station offers a Thanksgiving Dinner for Two-delivered.
  • Hickory Farms has several different create-your-own dinners to choose from.
  • Many local groceries will prepare your meal for you-one call, and you're set.

Now that you're stocked up with food and recipe udeas, your table should look it's best. These links will help you on that end.

  • Crate and Barrel has beautiful offerings for your holiday table, from cooking to serving to furniture!
  • Williams-Sonoma is on top of things with beautiful table settings, fabulous foods and gorgeous decor.
  • More affordable (but just as pretty) offerings can be found at Wal Mart and Target.

Whatever route you take, don't forget the real deal for the day--be thankful!
