Flickr for Photos

I take lots of digital photos. I want a place where I can store them, retrieve them, print them, and share them.
There are a whole slew of photo sharing-storing-printing sites out in the internet ether. I've tried lots of them, but my favorite is Flickr.
Flickr, a Yahoo company, is ridiculously easy to use. You can upload digital photos one at a time or in batches, you can add titles and descriptions, you can organize your photos in sets and organize your sets into collections.
Flickr also has good community features. You can build contacts and friends, join groups of like-minded photographers, and leave comments and notes. You can even get email notifications when someone comments on your photos!
Finally, you can make stuff. I've already reviewed MOO, the little calling cards, but you can make photo books, posters and calendars through QOOP. Of course, you can order prints of your photos, which you can pick up at a local Target. Since I am lazy, I have my prints sent to me by US mail.
My favorite feature is the blogging feature, which enables me to automatically write and post a blog entry about a photo directly from Flickr.
A basic membership is free, which is fine if you don't take a lot of photos. For $24.95, you get a Pro account, which gives you unlimited uploads, photosets, storage, bandwidth, and more. I have a Pro account; I love it.
If you're looking for a great photo site, check out Flickr. And feel free to stop in and visit me!
