My Favorite Sinus Remedies

My family is cursed with rotten sinuses. My Aunt Tillie had so much trouble with her sinuses that she lost her sense of smell. My Dad was addicted to decongestant nasal sprays for years.

I suffer with sinus headaches and sinusitis too. It's the pressure I can't stand -- it's as if my head was a pressure cooker about to pop.

Yes, I know about neti pots and nasal irrigation, but I can't bring myself to pour a teapot full of saltwater up my snoot. I'm sorry; it feels like drowning.

I recently came down with the familiar pounding pressure behind my eyes and cheekbones. This time, I snatched up my new weapons in the Battle of the Sinuses: Ayr Saline Nasal Spray and Zicam Intense Sinus Relief.

Ayr is a saline solution that you can spritz into your head as many times as you want. It's nice and salty, kind of like breathing fresh ocean mist. It keeps my sinuses moist and open. I like it better than any other saline spray.

The Zicam Intense Sinus Relief is medicated, and should only be used for three days in a row. It's got eucalyptus and menthol, which opens you up, and aloe, which soothes those inflamed passages.

I felt much, much better in a day. So give them a try -- but please -- go to the doctor if you have a fever or nasty nasal discharge. Those signal infection, and that needs to treated seriously and properly.

Okay? Okay!
