MOO!

Posted March 30, 2007

When you hear "MOO", you probably think of a cow.

I think of mini-business cards.

I use Flickr, a popular photo sharing site. I saw a promotion on the site for MOO, so I decided to check it out.

I like it!

MOO enables you to produce swell little cards from your stored photos. It's integrated with several photo-sharing websites, but you can also upload your photos from your computer directly to MOO.

First, I selected photos from my Read More

Getting My Walk On

Posted March 28, 2007

The office walking program officially started last Sunday. Unfortunately, I spent the day painting our bedroom. Great way to start, eh?

Monday was no better. A coworker who normally telecommutes, was in the office, so of course we went to lunch. I suppose the two blocks to and from the restaurant counts, but it ain't much. At least I went to my yoga class that night, but there's not a lot of walking going on there.

Ah, but yesterday I got my… Read More

Clowns Can Be Nice!

Posted March 25, 2007

When I tell people that I was a circus clown, I often hear "Oh, I hated clowns!" or "I was scared of clowns!"

It makes me want to smack the horrible clown who made them feel that way. Who wants to be hated or scary?

Freezer Burn

Posted March 23, 2007

Over at my personal blog, Red Nose, I sometimes participate in a weekly writing exercise called Friday's Feast. This week one of the questions was:

"Name three things in your freezer."

This is harder than it sounds, because I have a rather huge blind spot when it comes to the contents of my freezer. I mean, I put food in it sometimes, but I promptly forget about it. Most of the time, whatever goes into the freezer is… Read More

Shopping for Scary Meat

Posted March 20, 2007

When my son was a kid, he'd come with me to the grocery store and help me shop. As we shopped, we played a game: Find the Scary Meat, where we scanned the fresh meat case for strange, yet edible animal parts.

"Look, Mom! Ewww!" He'd hold up a package of dark red shimmering liver.

"How about -- oxtails!" I'd wave a package of oxtails.

"Pig's feet!!"

"Kidneys!"

The great thing was that the selection changed from week to week, so you could always find something… Read More

Take A Walk!

Posted March 18, 2007
I joined a walking group at work. Every spring my company sponsors a friendly walking competition among the employees. We form teams of 10 people, and for 12 weeks we all walk as much as possible. Almost any kind of walking counts: treadmill, speed walking, strolling along the avenue, even walking the halls in the office. Most of us wear pedometers to be sure we count every single step. The teams report in once a week and the company publishes… Read More
