My grand-nephew celebrated his First Holy Communion last Sunday in wonderful style. He looked so handsome in his little suit!

After Mass, we went to the family barbeque in his honor, where I got to mix and mingle with all the little kids in the family: four little boys and four little girls, spread out among three families.

This past weekend I went to my fourth annual Congress of Jugglers, my local juggling festival.

What? You didn't know that jugglers had festivals?

Yes, indeed we do!

This year's festival was great! There were plenty of jugglers, ranging in age from 6 to 76. In fact, the kids were better jugglers than many of the adults, including me.

Everyone has milestones in their lives.

Count 'em up: first smile, first tooth, first step, first day of school, high school and college graduations, first job, first (and hopefully only!) marriage, first baby.

Last night I crossed off another significant milestone in my own journey on this earth.

I got my very first Senior Citizen's discount.

Every profession has its own language, from parenting to professional wrestling. The circus is no different! Since May is the traditional beginning of the circus season, I thought you might enjoy learning some circus lingo.

First, there's the difference between troupers and townies. Troupers are the circus folk; townies are the residents. Troupers who are just starting out on their first seasons with the circus are First of Mays.

Last night Joe and shared a really delicious pizza, washed down with our favorite cola beverage. Yum!

But two hours later, while I was on a conference call, I began having stomach pains. I got through the call, but I knew it was only a matter of time before Things Happened.

I'll spare you the details. Suffice it to say that I got very little sleep.
