Step2's MainStreet Village Firehouse was probably the one they are loving the most
So the final pieces of torn and tossed aside wrapping paper have made their way to the recycling bin. Hubby and I opened and put together the last item that needed to be put together. And the boys have had a chance to actually play with most of the items at this point.
I'm finding that some of the toys I thought would be the thrill of the season weren't at all, and that some of those last minute purchases I didn't think much about have ended up wowing them more than I ever thought they would.
Hits:
Step2's MainStreet Village FireHouse - this one was such a random purchase. I stood in the aisle at Toys R Us with a friend and remarked, "do I really want to start an entire new toy line I don't have in my house?" She answered, "no!" Of course, I got it anyway. It was intended to be a toy for my 1-year-old but my 4-year-old has been just as enthralled. In fact, they've been fighting over the fireman - it's unbelievable. But it's a fun little toy and the sound effects are great. I'm considering getting the police station with the credit from some of the returns I'll be making.
I Spy Eagle Eye - my 4-year-old is obsessed with anything I Spy or Search and Find. Santa brought this board game where you have to race against others to find the hidden images.
Cloud B's Twilight Turtle - Santa brought one for each boy. Turn on the turtle in a dark room and it transforms the ceiling into a starry night. It switches to three different colors - Amber, Blue and Green.
V Tech's Winnie the Pooh Roll N Learn Tree - of course, give my one year old anything with a ball and he's sure to love it. But this toy was a tremendous hit. Even my four year old plays with it. Winnie the Pooh narrates, sings and teaches as baby plays. It's a new product for 2007.
Learning Resources Teaching Cash Register - today I bought an ice cream for $20. Inflation's a killer in our house. Seriously, when opened, this toy received an exclamation of, "I've always wanted this toy!" It was an instant hit and I love that it's teaching him about money and counting.
Misses:
Tub Time Curious George - I was really excited about this one. This toy is supposed to blow bubbles in the bath tub when you squeeze his belly. Unfortunately, it doesn't really work. Should have read the reviews on Amazon before purchasing. And without the bubbles, both kids are bored by it. In fact, George got tossed out of the bath after about a minute tonight.
V. Smile's Spin & Discover Globe - my four year old called it a "baby" toy, yet the toddler has no interest. It's collecting dust in the corner of the room now.
Spiderman roller skates - seriously. What was I thinking.
