I'm a two-time C-section Mommy. The first time wasn't an unusual story: expecting a normal delivery - then the shock of an emergency situation after many, many hours of labor and exhaustion for both me and my eldest. The result: a long and painful recovery both emotionally and physically.
Fast forward to the recent birth of son #2. I was much more prepared. Besides the fact that I had a planned C, I knew what to expect and I knew what I would NOT be capable of doing. In other words, I wouldn't be traipsing up and down the steps in my house six times a day that first week home. So this time, I took steps to plan ahead for my recovery. One thing I did was to use a diaper caddy from SaraBear Baskets. It was so useful that I'm still using it daily now, four months later (and certainly well beyond being fully recovered from a c-section!).
SaraBear Baskets makes these cute little diaper caddies. Why I love it: they're cute and they are functional. Each day I pack it with the following: several diapers, a bag of wipes, small tube of Aquaphor, small tube of diaper rash cream and a couple of breast pads. I carry the tub up and down the stairs twice a day.
I'll admit it: I'm lazy. I like that I don't have to take the baby upstairs every time I need to change him, nor do I have to keep a drawer somewhere with all of these supplies. And I'm sure it doesn't need to be said - but in the very beginning this was incredibly useful with my birth recovery. I can imagine this would be useful for anyone recovering from birth - whether you've had a C or otherwise.
It's just helpful to have a little spot that you're organized with all your baby's needs, and for me, that was and still is a diaper caddy from SaraBear. Use coupon code diapercaddy for 15% off your order, coupon expires May 12, 2007.
