Striped Noro Scarf
7 |
Warm and Fuzzy.
I finished my Noro striped scarf last weekend (just in time for the warmer weather... some timing, eh?) It turned out wonderfully and has really served well for my recent cravings for knitting-auto-pilot mode.
I used 4 balls of Noro Silk Garden in colorways 201, 234 and 86. I had two skeins of Shade 201 and one of each of the others. I manually striped 201 and 234 for the first half of the scarf and then 201 and 86 for the second half. Luckily 234 and 86 are relatively similar in their color representation, so there is no really noticeable break in continuity.
The "pattern" is sort of a general scarf formula: Cast on 39 stitches and work in 1x1 ribbing (k, p, k, p to end) and changing yarns every two rows. I like the look of a slipped stitch edging which is easy and tidy: slip the first and last stitch as if to purl on the second row of each stripe. I carried the inactive yarn up the side and spit-spliced skeins so there were no extra ends to weave in.
Simple knit with stunning results! All thanks to the good folks at Noro. Never underestimate the power of a good yarn!
