No Time to Knit? I'll Try to Help.

I've been thinking a lot about how I could better use this space to cater to *parents* who knit. Now, I'm not a parent and I don't claim to understand all that goes in to parenting. I do know that those of you folks who are parenting (my hat is off to you, btw) have serious time constraints, especially in regard to your personal hobbies (be it knitting, gardening, fishing, anything). I know many knitters who are parents and they often lament the loss of their personal knitting time.
I have a full-time day job as well as other freelance artistic commitments but do find a relatively significant time for knitting in my life - for this I am grateful. I also have the chance to keep my finger 'on the pulse' of what is going on in the internet knitting community - another luxury of time (and a desk job with internet access). Now, time to knit AND research current knitting trends is probably something most parents aren't able to keep up with in their hectic schedules. For that reason I'd like to be able to share with you here projects that I find that are geared more specifically towards YOU, busy parent.
I'd like to start a more regular feature here of sharing FREE downloadable patterns (plucked from all reaches of cyberspace) for knitting parents who have resigned themeselves as pre-kid-knitters only. My priorities in looking for patterns will be two: (a) projects that are efficient and won't eat a lot of your time, but will show noticeable results and (b) that are interesting for one reason or another (construction-wise, etc). The bonus to looking for patterns with these attributes? Lots of stuff for kids and babies, which also seems to fit nicely the demographic that frequents this site.
As always, I'd love to hear your feedback about these things - if you're looking for specific things in a pattern, I'll try my best to refine the hunt to reflect these requests. My goal is to bring to the table projects that will enable those knitters who think they have no time for knitting ... to knit. First pattern will be presented shortly, stay tuned.

About Me
I am a 24-year-old artist/photographer/knitter living and working in New York. I learned to knit as a child from my mother but only got serious(ly obsessive) about it four or five years ago. You can read more about my work at Brooklyn Tweed.
