I want to share with you one of my most recent
knitting-in-cyberspace finds that has me really excited! The
site is called "TECHKnitting" and is a wonderful resource for
knitters of all levels. Check it our
here.
The TECH Knitter is a long-time knitter (25+ years) based in Wisconsin who clearly has some technical skills in both illustration and writing. The blog is presented in an almost textbook style with clear-as-can-be visuals and decisive, clear writing… Read More

I spent the weekend knitting and cooking. Somehow, I had
two full days to myself without commitment and it was wonderful.
Work on the Aran sweater continues - I've completed the body (to
the armholes), one sleeve and am about halfway up the other.
This is the most brazen display of project exclusivity that I've
exhibited in as long as I can remember. Usually by the time the
second sleeve rolls around, I'm ready to move on. Project ends
up…

While I'm not a parent myself, babies seem to pop up
not-so-infrequently in my circle of family and friends. I like
to keep my finger on the pulse of what patterns seem enjoyable as

In the spirit of my last post, I thought I'd elaborate a
little bit on resources for new knitters.
In the last few years, the online knitting community has grown in an insane way. All sorts of wonderful websites have popped up with the intent of helping knitters at all levels of experience. I'm a firm believer in having a few decent books in my library for reference, but when you're really in a pinch, immediate releif is… Read More

I'm often asked for advice from knitters who are just
starting to learn the craft. One of the most common requests
they have is for book recommendations: Which books most clearly
demonstrate all the techniques we will need to know? Where can I
find clear and concise information about basic patterns? Which
authors do you prefer, etc.?
Well, I'll be the first to tell you that there are a bunch of knitting books out there. Some good, some not… Read More

I've been unable to put down the Aran - we're
definitely still in the honeymoon stage. You know, that
phase when you and the sweater can't stop thinking about each
other ... at work, on the subway ... and want to spend as much
time together as possible? It's great, isn't it? Sure it always
fades, usually way before you coveted finish, but when it's on,
you feel you'd be happy knitting exclusively on this one project
for the rest…
