What's a Nakeeshka?

Nakeeshka - I wouldn't sell mine to anyone!
The kids and I recently watched "Just Desserts", an episode of Cory in the House on the Disney Channel. Cory in the House is about the son of the head chef at the White House and all his mishaps and fun with his two best friends, Meena and Newt. In this episode, Meena makes a batch of Nakeeshka, the official dessert of Bahavian Independence Day. Nakeeshka are cream filled pastries "ceremoniously drizzled" with lemon sauce.
Cory enjoys them so much that he decides to try and capitalize on this pastry by starting his own Nakeeshka bakery. His first venture is the Presidents Medal banquet given to honor the efforts of a woman who works with the "overly stressed".
A little mishap occurs when baking soda is used instead of baking powder when making the Nakeeshka. When the lemon sauce is drizzled on the top, a reaction occurs and the Nakeeshka explode. Not funny to the "overly stressed" folk, but hilarious for the rest of us.
Now, neither Bahavia nor Nakeeshka are real, both were invented for the show, but I love a challenge and I came up with my own idea of what Nakeeshka would be. The kids and I completely enjoyed these and they've already asked me to make them again! See what you think.
Nakeeshka
Makes 9
2 sheets puff pastry (or a package of shells already done)
1 cup heavy cream
2 tablespoons powdered sugar
Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
Lay puff pastry sheets out and press seams flat. Cut out 18 - 3" circles with a biscuit cutter. Cut 1" holes in the center of 9 of the 3" circles. Remove the 1" circle of dough from each. Set the whole circles of pastry onto a parchment lined baking sheet. Top each circle with one of the "missing center" circles. Bake these for 10-15 minutes or until puffed and golden brown. Remove the shells from the oven and let cool for 5 minutes. Push down the centers of the shells, if needed, to make a well in the center of each. Let cool completely.
Combine cream and sugar and beat until stiff and fluffy.(Or buy the canned stuff to save time!)
Fill each of the pastry shells with a spoonful of whipped cream.
Lemon Sauce:
1 cup sugar
1 cup water
2 tablespoons cornstarch
1 teaspoon lemon zest
2 tablespoons lemon juice
2 tablespoons butter
Combine water, sugar and cornstarch. Mix over medium heat until thickened. Add lemon zest, lemon juice and butter and stir to combine. You can add a drop or two of yellow food coloring if you'd like. Let cool to room temperature before drizzling over the Nakeeshka. You can be "ceremonious" if you'd like, but these are delicious even without the ceremony!
