Fun budget-friendly family recipes by Anne
This past weekend we went camping. The kids love setting up the tents and sleeping out under the stars, especially when it's only 20 feet from our back door. Yep, we set up tents in our backyard and had a blast. With gas prices as high as they are and daddy still not feeling 100%, we decided to stay home and have as much fun as possible.
We set up tents, picked up a small grill and made the most of… Read More

My kids are probably like every other kid on the planet;
they want cookies year-round regardless of the weather. I'm not a
'cookie mom'. I really dislike making cookies, yet I do it often
because the kids love them. I like cookies too, but baking them
seems to drive me completely batty. I don't mind the unbaked kind
so much because there's no waiting at the oven door for 8-10
minutes before heading back to the counter to drop or…

The 4th of July is just around the corner and I can't wait
to get started on all manner of tri-colored treats. One 4th Party
we held that I particularly liked was one where each food was
theme-related. We had it later in the evening, desserts only, and

fun as it was, it was never the same without the wand. Waving of
hands or nodding of heads didn't cut it when a spell
really…

Cobbler usually evokes thoughts of cooler days when the
desire for comfort food runs high. When the cobbler is made with
berries, though, it's all Springtime to me. This cobbler is
little on the 'cheating' side, using canned biscuits in lieu of
homemade dough and frozen berries replacing the usual fresh. This
will be our Father's Day dessert, and just like any other day
here, time is of the essence, so streamlining the preparation was
key. My husband is just…

In our home, daddy's favorite meal is breakfast, and
because of that we have "breakfast for dinner" often. One thing
dad likes is breakfast sandwiches made with waffles or pancakes,
egg, cheese and sausage. We also enjoy a good strata, and on one
recent "breakfast sandwich night" I got the idea to turn this
handheld favorite into a one-dish-wonder. It turned out so well
that I can see it being requested for many meals. Although it's
delicious as-is, the maple…
