Links for a Great Thanksgiving

Posted November 12, 2007
Five deer and a week's worth of fowl. If you really want to go traditional, that's what you would need to get started. Those are the only things that anyone knows for sure were served at the very first Thanksgiving in Plymouth in 1961. If your oven isn't big enough and wooden trenchers are out for tableware, you may want to consult one or two of the following links for help with your more contemporary holiday feast.

My Love of Cookbooks

Posted November 07, 2007
Cookbooks are such an integral part of who I am that I can't imagine life without them. I have a little collection of about 150 books and booklets that grows yearly in small increments. My collection grows not by new books, but by new-to-me books. This year's Trick-or-Treat night in our city turned out to be a real dud. It was raining and cold and since our city wouldn't postpone the festivities, it was get wet, or don't go. We opted not to go since the baby had recently had a fever of 102 and we were short a teen to help watch her while I took the other kids out.

We decided not to let the whole night be a total bust and picked… Read More

Pumpkin Pancakes

Posted October 24, 2007
I know I've already shared my love of pumpkin, but you'll have to excuse me for sharing one more recipe. This is one that just begs to be shared. The first time I set out to make these pancakes I decided that they would be better with stiffly beaten egg whites instead of a flat-out whole egg recipe. I do use the whole egg, just separated and beaten for more "fluffability". These were nearly like a pumpkin soufflé… Read More
