Tips for Fighting Cabin Fever

Rockband
Today brought snow and sleet to our area AGAIN.  To say that I have cabin fever is an understatement. It's been a really cold and grey winter. The family and I are trying not to go crazy until Spring. Here are some of things we do around my house to keep cabin fever from getting us down.
Cabin Fever Tip #1-Rockband
X-BOX Rockband
The kids got X-Box Rockband for Christmas THANK GOODNESS. Being able to "rock out" playing ROCKBAND is a great way for the kids and for mom and dad to get out frustrations! I am probably the worst player in history to play this game but I love doing it. Rocking out on the drums is a fun way to keep out cabin fever.
Cabin Fever Tip #2-Get Obsessed with a TV Series
BBC's Dr. Who
Our 14-year-old got my husband and I completely hooked on this show. It runs on BBC America
and Sci-Fi here in the United States. It's an AWESOME show that has
everything you could want in a TV show. It has drama, tragedy, smart
humor and it's simply amazing. It's NOT "Sci-Fi" despite the fact the
main character is a time traveler, the last of the "Time Lords".  It
would take too long to explain the plot of "Dr Who" but you have to
trust me that it's awesome and a great way to escape.
Project Runway
I've
made no secret of my Project Runway obsession and now my daughter is hooked. I love it when Project Runway addicts
bring more into the cult. I am obsessed with the current season of Project Runway
and my family knows that when the show is on, they are unable to speak
to me unless the house is on fire. It goes without saying that I also
Tivo the show, so I can re-live the moments with friends and my younger
daughter. When the current PR is not on, I also view the previous
seasons on DVD. I know it's twisted but I am truly addicted to the
show. It's the best kind of reality TV and Tim Gunn and crew are the
BOMB.
Cabin Fever Tip #3-Read a Good Book
Go Fug
Yourself: The Fug Awards by Heather Morgan and Jessica
Cocks
The "Fug" girls, Heather and Jessica, have written an awesome book based on their hillarious blog. Even if you are not a fashionista, you will love it. It's so funny and the book is a great way to laugh away the winter blues.
The Memory Keeper's Daughter
This book will haunt you and once you start it, you won't be able to put it down. If you want a great fiction book to keep your mind of the cold, this book is it. It's an awesome story of love, loss, family secrets and redemption.
Here is a link to the New York Times Bestseller List, in case you are looking for a book that interests you.
Winter is coming to an end and in February we can see the light at the end of the tunnel. If you have any good tips for ways to keep the winter blues away, I'd love to hear them.
