Mother's Intuition: I Wish I Would Have Trusted Mine

In my gut, I knew something was wrong.

Our older daughter has a chronic health condition that I'm not going to go into here because of her privacy.   But in the last two or three years, my daughter's has not been well.  I took her to a number of different doctors, specialists of
every kind.  The doctors ran tests, we tried different medications and followed the directions of each of the different specialists and doctors.  My daughter continued not to feel good and as time went on, she felt worse.

Finally, last week, we got our daughter into an allergy specialist.  The results of these tests were mind boggling.  It turns out, after years of wondering what's wrong with our daughter, we found out that our daughter is HIGHLY allergic to the following foods:

  • Wheat (Gluten in the wheat)
  • Milk
  • Rice
  • Apples
  • Peanuts
I can't believe that it has taken us so long to figure out what's wrong with our baby girl.  I'm mad, sad and at the same time I'm overjoyed to know that we finally found out what's wrong.  I just wish I had followed my mother's intuition sooner.
With every visit to every doctor, I asked questions and told the specialists about my family history with allergies AND thyroid issues.  I was told that all the tests were normal.  But I knew, I just knew that the tests were missing something.  If I had been more aggressive or if I had gotten her to an allergist sooner, maybe she'd feel good right now.

I'm not saying the doctor's were wrong or the people we took our daughter to for help were bad.  But a mother's inutition is usually right and I forgot this fact.  I am going to pay more attention to my mother's instinct in the future and I urge all or you to do the same.

We haven't gotten to the thyroid tests yet but that's next week.   I don't know how to begin to even FEED this child.  I'm relieved to begin to get her on the road to health but I am overwhelmed.  Any and all advice is appreciated and welcomed!
