Kajeet: Cell Phones Created by Dads for Kids
2 |
I wrote about Kajeet cell phones in June because our family has been struggling with the whole cell phone debate for our daughter, who turned 13 a few months ago. We tried a full-fledged, no parental monitors cell phone but we weren't comfortable with it. Some of the phones created for kids were, in my daughter's words, "too babyish" for her. There seemed to be no middle-ground and then I found Kajeet. The phones seemed like a great solution for tweens and early teen cell phone users.
My daughter is trying a cell phone from Kajeet -- and it's great. My husband and I can work WITH our daughter to add or subtract options on the phone. If there is a problem and we have to limit access to the phone or text messaging, we can program it so that she can only get calls from US. I am so over-the-top about this phone because it's been a real worry for us and because she is at the age that it makes sense to have a phone with her so that she can get ahold of us at anytime or we can reach her at anytime.
We had already decided to try out the Kajeet program (it's pay-as-you-go, no long-term contracts) when I got a message from one of the people at Kajeet. One of the company founders wanted to know if I needed any more information or had any additional questions about the phones or the service. So that's how I got to talk to Daniel Neal, the CEO and one of the founders of Kajeet. I was already sold on Kajeet phones and service but I just had to do a follow-up post about the company and their products because it was really amazing talking to Daniel Neal.
As parents, we are constantly "pitched" by companies and brands that promote the idea that they want to "help kids" or help families. Kajeet and Daniel Neal ACTUALLY mean it. Seriously, I was blown away but the conversation with Daniel Neal about the company and how he and his team developed it. Daniel is a father of "tweens" and so are the other founders. They created Kajeet and the services that go with it as PARENTS----then they decided to sell it. I am telling everyone who will listen what I think of this company and how much credibility this brand has with me.
It was so refreshing and nice to talk to a company like Kajeet and a company founder like Daniel Neal. Kajeet is the "real deal". I'm a veteran of over 20 years in the Advertising biz, so it's not like I'm a big pushover. If you are looking for a cell phone for your young teen or "tween", just quit looking and buy a Kajeet phone. It's easy, it's flexible and it's LOW RISK. Most of all, Kajeet was created by dads who care about their kids...and our kids. Here's some more information about Kajeet and the company, in case you think I'm completely crazed with this recommendation.
