St. Patrick's Day is a big holiday in my household.
My husband (Timothy Patrick Joseph Duffy Lamar) comes from a large Irish Catholic family. It is a festive day of celebrating and fun all around.
My family heritage is Irish and "Scotch-Irish" so St. Patrick's Day is right up there with Thanksgiving in terms of our holiday celebrations.

It doesn't matter if you're Irish all year long or just on March 17th, there are some interesting books and DVDs about the Irish-American experience. Here are some of my recommendations for books and movies to "Get Your Irish On" in the spirit of St. Patrick's Day.

BOOKS (and Audio Books)
I have just started to read more about the Irish and the history of the Irish in America. There are many interesting and unique things how the Irish people came to America.

Looking for Jimmy: A Search for Irish America by Peter Quinn

DVDs
These suggestions are less informative and more entertaining but I think these movies are a snapshot of some of the aspects of Irish-American families.

Read, listen or watch something Irish this week as you gear up for your St. Paddy's Day celebration.
