I found this helpful Thank You! Your vote will be tallied soon!

Whip It & Whip It Good!

You've got to love this gadget. Yes, I admit it. I am a gadget FREAK! Some women are addicted to shoes (oops, that might be me, too...). Some secretly harbor a love of cleaning (definitely NOT me...). Some may report spending every extra penny on decorating their homes. But me? I am really into gadgets. It's a weakness, really.

So, when I saw the iSi Whipped Cream Dispenser in a mail circular from Williams-Sonoma a couple of years ago, I knew that it would soon be mine. Mind you, I wasn't too thrilled about the price ($50 to $100, depending on where you shop), but I knew that I would have to find a spot in the cabinet (and ultimately, the fridge...) for this little gem -- and soon!

You have seen this type of product in coffee joints all over the country. You know when they ask if you want "the whip" on your mocha? This is what they use. This dispenser is a professional level chef's appliance that you can have right in your very own novice kitchen. You just put in up to 2 cups of heavy cream, sweetener and some vanilla, and you've got freshly whipped cream! Why, you may ask, would someone (besides a gadget freak like me) want one of these?

  • You can whip cream in an instant for any number of desserts.
  • The cream lasts for weeks in your refrigerator once you have put it into the dispenser -- far longer than if it were still in the little carton it comes in from the store
  • The cream you whip in this dispenser tastes 100 times better than the stuff in the can from the store
  • You can adjust your "recipe" to fit your personal taste
  • You can even make a savory cream for use on a pasta or other dish
  • You will impress all of your friends
  • Your kids (not to mention their friends...) will think you are the coolest mom EVER!
  • Your desserts will look like the ones in the pictures in the recipe books instead of like something a 1st grader made

You get the idea. I actually purchased mine on Ebay. It was cheaper and the exact same thing as advertised on the mail circular that came to my house. Do note that these come in two sizes , the 1/2 pint and one pint size. I wouldn't even bother with the 1/2 pint size. It runs out way too fast, and you can always put less in the pint size if you don't want to fill it up. In my next post, I will give you a recipe that I made up. We use it with Belgian waffles and strawberries. Mmmm...my mouth is watering just thinking about this...
