Getting regular ultrasounds during my twin pregnancy was simply a part of being considered "high risk."  (I wrote about having a high risk pregnancy in an earlier post.)

At first I was concerned about it because ultrasounds are medical procedures, and therefore not something to be taken lightly.  But my obstetrician reassured me and said that it's important to keep an eye on the development of twin pregnancies for a variety of reasons.  When you have a high risk pregnancy, there are extra precautions.

We went to a specialist for the appointments.  The doctor was passionate about his fancy cameras and reveled in providing the best images possible.  His childlike excitement and his "I've seen it all and you're doing fantastically well" attitude was always reassuring.

As a result of all the extra ultrasounds, we have great pictures of our little girls in the womb.  We even took a videotape a couple of times so we could record the sessions when the doctor was taking the 2D images.

We even have 3D images that the doctor linked together into a composite so it plays like a little movie on the computer.  That appointment took ages because he was determined to get everything perfect -- twice, of course, since he wanted perfect images of both Baby A and Baby B.

This regular dose of reassurance from the ultrasounds and especially from the specialist was actually a benefit of having a high risk pregnancy.
