I found this helpful Thank You! Your vote will be tallied soon!

Still in Sunday morning jammies, my daughters had me lug out the Duplos so they could use their building plates as a creative canvas.

Not being much of a Legoist myself when I was little, at first I didn't get the importance of these large building plates for playing with our nice little collection of Duplos.

For the uninitiated, Duplos are the toddler-sized version of Legos (another time I'll write about my Duplo-collecting tips).

The whole family has had fun playing with the Duplos.  My husband (just like with Play-Doh) can make anything he imagines out of Duplos. I, however, have to stick to the little pictures on the boxes.  Now, though, my daughters have been asking for walls, caves and houses.  Those, I can build.

These building plates were the key to the girls really using their imaginations with the blocks.  Before we had these plates, they were dependent on Momma and Daddy to think of what to build.  But having the plates was almost like an imagination blueprint.  Now, they just ask for the plates and the blocks, and they start to build.

Today, one plate was host to a house, a tall tower and a tall wall, and the other was host to a zoo.  Each Duplo-playing child in your family could have one so that he or she can build something alone or pool plates together with a sib for a giant Duplo building complex.

And, when we're not playing with Duplos, the girls flip them over, and they also double as a great flat surface for working puzzles!
