Old Navy costumes well-worth the extra bucks

I found this helpful Thank You! Your vote will be tallied soon!

Months after Halloween, adorable costumes from Old Navy are still a dress-up favorite.

Every kid deserves a great dress-up chest, stocked with all sorts of dime store treasures.  Ours is full of beaded necklaces, sunglasses, party hats, school-made hats, tutus, fairy wands, silk scarves, lacy scarves, bandannas, rain boots, cowboy boots, stuff I don't use anymore, all sorts of terrific junk.

Recently, they've acquired velvety capes from their grandmother, and they're just starting to get into those, too.

We have lots of photos of my daughters in their get-ups.  It's so much fun to see what they'll come up with.

One thing we have in our dress-up collection is something that's more pricey than the dime-store accoutrement, but it's been worth every penny.

This Halloween, we bought store-made costumes at Old Navy -- a frog and a monkey.  They were about 20 bucks for the whole costume, which consists of a soft padded top and a pair of pants.  They are really, really cute costumes (we got lots of compliments), and we didn't see nearly as many of them on other kids as we had anticipated.  They have Velcro closures, so they're easy to get on and off.

We got them just a little large, so they still fit.  Now that they are getting into fairy tales and the whole kiss-and-turn-into-something-else thing, they love getting dressed up, asking for a kiss and then tearing the Velcro open and turning back into themselves.

The extra bucks have gone a long way.  If Old Navy sells these again this Halloween, jump at the chance.
