Enticing reluctant boy readers

While checking in on LAObserved.com, my favorite site to see up-to-the-minute news about Los Angeles, I found a link to this Los Angeles Times article about books to share with young boy readers.
It's called "How to hook the reluctant boy reader," and it's a terrific resource.
In addition to containing some tips, the article has a great list of comics and books that the article's author - a mom of two young boys -- personally vouches for.
I don't have sons, but I taught lots of boys before I started teaching at an all-girls school, and it can sometimes be difficult to find just the right books to engage young boys.
The line-up in this article is stellar, and I'd add to it two by Gary Paulsen: Harris and Me, about a rude, crude rascal who comes to live on his cousin's farm for the summer (good for middle schoolers); and Woodsong, an autobiographical account of the author's first Iditarod experience.
Take this article with you on your next library or bookstore expedition!
